Finding Community & Resources
What we offer
The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center is here to provide programs, events and training that foster an inclusive atmosphere on campus and in the greater community. In addition, we sponsor two physical locations that serve as gathering and study lounges as well as safe spaces on campus where we strive to ensure all students feel welcome.
LGBTQIA+ Center: The Bridge
An integral part of the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center, The Bridge (Davies 229) provides opportunities for new and returning students to find community and connect with people whose lived experiences mirror their own. On any given day in The Bridge, you will find students laughing, studying, napping, engaging with queer issues, accessing resources, resting between classes, or just hanging out. Staffed by student interns and supervised by a full-time GSRC student services coordinator, The Bridge is whatever students need it to be. It is truly a student-centered space. Stop by and say hi!
How to find us
Rainbow Floors
Housing & Residence Life is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive experience for all LGBTQIA+ students. Due to high demand, we've added additional Rainbow Floor options! Students are now able to choose amongst the following:
Karlgaard Towers
Karlgaard Towers offers two Rainbow Floor options during the housing selection process: the general LGBTQIA+ floor and our Trans & Gender Diverse (TGD) floor. In Karlgaard Towers, each of the ten floors features all gender restrooms, and staff are on hand to ensure your home away from home is as welcoming and supportive as possible. On the Rainbow Floors, all single- and multi-stall restrooms function as accessible, all gender spaces (including restrooms and showers); there is also an accessible private option for those desiring a bit more privacy. The Rainbow Floor social spaces in Karlgaard Towers are second to none, featuring vibrant, cozy lounge and study options. Additionally, students are surrounded by graphic design elements featuring intersectional, historical queer icons. Did we mention the chalk wall? The student-created hallway graffiti? There's so much to see!
Check out the newly renovated Karlgaard Towers in the video below!
Oakridge Hall
The Suites
Students in their second year or above who are still looking for a Rainbow Floor environment can select our apartment style residence hall–The Suites! The first floor of The Suites hosts the Gender-Inclusive Living Pod! This pod is for students looking for suitemates of all gender identities, gender expressions, and sexualities. Living spaces are not designated by assigned sex or gender identity; we encourage students to match with whomever they feel will result in a positive, safe housing experience. In this pod, students do not need to establish a roommate group that fills all available spaces within the designated unit. Housing will work with students to fill the rooms with other students who have self-selected the inclusive living option.

Don't be hangry!
Queer students often find themselves having to choose between bills and food. Opened in September of 2014, the Campus Harvest food pantry was developed to aid the high percentage of students that self-identified as in need of supplemental food assistance. Everything in the Campus Harvest food pantry is free! All you need to do is bring your student ID. If you want someone to go with you, never fear! Just email Chris (jorgencj@dos5.net) or Kallie (friedeka@dos5.net), and we'll set it up. Ya gotta eat!
