If you are making changes to your senior year class schedule, please email our admissions office, and an admissions staff member will let you know if the changes are approved. If you are considering dropping a course, please indicate what course you are adding.

It's important to be authentic — let your personality shine through! The essays within your application are an opportunity for us to get to know you as an individual. Take full advantage of this, and tell us what makes you curious, what you're passionate about and want to pursue at UW-Eau Claire, or what you've worked hard to accomplish. Be sure to take your time and proofread!

Academic preparation and success are the primary considerations for admission. Course selection is one of the primary factors considered and how a student is reviewed for individual academic performance. Minimally we require 17 total academic units for admission. We strongly encourage completion of four years in the core academic areas to be competitive for admission. We also strongly recommend taking two years of languages courses.

We begin accepting and processing applications for new first-year students on August 1 for the fall semester. For fall admission, submit your application and all required documents by February 1 of your senior year for priority consideration.

Completed applications to UW-Eau Claire consist of the following:

ACT or SAT score (Note: In accordance with the resolution made by the UW System Board of Regents, UW-Eau Claire is not requiring test scores for students applying for any term up to and including summer 2027. Learn more about the test-optional application process)

Recommendation letters are not required in our admissions process.

If you have completed your application to UW-Eau Claire, you will typically hear back in 2-3 weeks.

A postponed application means we would like additional academic information to make a decision. We typically ask for quarter and/or semester senior grades and review that with other admission factors to make a decision on space-available basis. If your updated materials are received by February 15, a decision will be communicated no later than March 15 of your senior year for fall admission.

We offer a variety of merit-based scholarships for incoming students to recognize outstanding achievement. Some of our scholarships are automatic while others require a separate application. Eligible students are encouraged to apply by December 1 of their senior year (for early award consideration) or by the February 1 deadline to ensure the best chance of receiving a scholarship.

Yes, we host admitted student visit days! These days allow you to meet future classmates, take care of next steps, tour multiple residence halls, and even get your photo taken with Blu, our student mascot! These visits are hosted in the spring semester. See available visits here.
